Dream Hotel Nashville Review

As a Nashville native, I’ve made it a goal to stay at all of the Hyatt properties in downtown so that I can give recommendations when people ask where to stay during their visits.

My husband and I stayed at the Dream Nashville as a one night staycation downtown. We paired our stay with tickets to see &Juliet at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). The hotel is located just a few blocks away from TPAC which made getting to and from the show on a cold night, a relative breeze. Although, walking back to the hotel in a rain storm was not ideal.

Booking and Value 8/10

I booked our Standard King Bronze room for 25,000 Hyatt points. I easily transferred these points from Chase. They transferred instantly to my Hyatt account. The cash rate for the room I booked was $523 including taxes and fees, making this a 2.1 cent per point (CPP) redemption. However, due to my Globalist benefits, we were upgraded before check in to a Platinum King Suite valued at $723 for the night. After our free breakfast and free parking, the total value came to $837! Overall this ends up being 3.34 CPP which is a great value for my points!

Location 10/10

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Nashville on 4th Avenue, between Church and Union Streets. It backs up into, and has its own entrance from, the legendary Nashville Printer’s Alley.

From the hotel it is just a quick two block walk to the bustling nightlife, and daytime shenanigans, on Broadway.

Decor 8/10

I would describe the decor and vibe of this hotel as funky luxury. There is dark trim and tiles, with funky neon signs and artwork. The dark colors and trim might not be everyone’s taste but all of it was very nicely done and the facilities were in great shape.

Food 7/10

Stateside Restaurant

We chose to eat dinner (and earn points) at Stateside. We were there early in the night and didn’t have a reservation. The restaurant was quite empty and we were seated in a booth near the bar.

Stateside is the hotel’s main restaurant and was open and airy with a huge glass ceiling. Black and white tile flooring is paired with light wood and light blue decor. It has a much brighter and airier vibe than the rest of the hotel, and I loved it.

For dinner, my husband and I chose to split a Caesar Salad and a French Dip Sandwich. The Caesar was great. It had a seasoning that resembled “everything but the bagel” which was super tasty in addition to the standard parmesan. The French Dip sandwich was also delicious. It was warm, had tender and juicy meat, and the bread was perfectly toasted. The sandwich came with fries which tasted good but nothing amazing.

I ordered a Dream-sicle cocktail to go with dinner. It was fantastic. It tasted like a childhood summer. A refreshing creamy orange drink topped with delicious whipped cream.

I’m not one to pass up dessert, so we shared a dessert as well. Despite our server’s recommendation to choose the Oreo Beignet, we decided on the warm brownie with ice cream. It was just okay. On first bite I thought it was great, but as I ate more of it I was less impressed. It was very rich and not quite sweet enough for my liking. It was topped with candied pecans that I didn’t love.

Overall, I’d definitely eat at Stateside again but I wouldn’t order the brownie next time.

Parlour Bar

This is the hotel bar located just off of the lobby. We didn’t visit it but it did look cute and had a speakeasy vibe at the entrance with big plush curtains. After an arrival sparkling wine, complimentary wine in the room, and the Dream-sicle at dinner, I definitely didn’t need any more alcohol.

Natura Cafe

Natura Cafe is a coffee shop located just off of the lobby. Globalist breakfast is served during the week at Natura Cafe, and Stateside is open for breakfast on the weekends.

The menu is not vast but we enjoyed the food we chose.

I like trying different options so my husband and I chose a few things to share again. We opted for the breakfast burrito and a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting. I didn’t manage to get any pictures before we dug in!

I really liked the breakfast burrito and the homefries that came with it. As a self-proclaimed cinnamon roll aficionado, I would only rate the cinnamon roll as average. The frosting was delicious but the actual cinnamon roll left me wanting more bread and more moisture.

To drink, I had a hot sugar free vanilla latte with 2% milk and my husband ordered “something with toasted marshmallow syrup” which I think ended up being an iced toasted marshmallow latte with whole milk. Both drinks were good, but nothing amazing.

Room 8/10

I booked our stay using 25k Hyatt points for one night in a King Bed Bronze room. As a Hyatt Globalist, we received a complimentary upgrade to a Platinum Suite. This is their standard suite at Dream Nashville.

I really enjoyed our room. The hotel is actually two separate historic buildings joined together at the back, but otherwise mostly separated. Stateside grill is located between the two buildings and can be seen below.

The room had dark jewel tone colors, dark trim, and black and white striped accents – like a black and white striped shower which I thought was very fun. Would I want it in my home? No. But, I totally appreciated it’s funk in the hotel room.

Our king size bed was AMAZING. For a hotel called Dream – this bed definitely hit the mark. The linens were so soft and smooth. The pillows were plush without being too fluff. I hate a super thick pillow and these hit just right. The mattress was an absolute dream (see what I did there). I slept so soundly and didn’t wake up until 8:45am, which is definitely not the norm for me!

I absolutely appreciated how thick the curtains were and that they let in minimal light to the room when the sun came up. It did help that the weather was cloudy and our room essentially overlooked the alley between the hotel’s two buildings.

In that vein, the view from our room was pretty non-existent, unless you have voyeuristic tendencies and want to look into other hotel rooms.

The bathroom was fully stocked with Karl Langerfield products. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap were all available. They also had a black make-up towel in the room which I absolutely appreciated instead of having a disposable make-up wipe.

They also had 2 pairs of slippers in the room and a very cozy bathrobe hanging in the bathroom. I thought the slippers were adorable so I brought them home. I loved the black and white details on them and they really stand apart from other hotel slippers that are plain white.

Hospitality 9/10

Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I did email the general manager a few days ahead of time to let him know we were celebrating our anniversary during our stay. He went out of his way to ask about food preferences and sent a welcome gift to our room before we arrived. I let him know that my husband doesn’t drink but loves rootbeer and he sent 3 bottles of really yummy root beer, a bottle of wine, and snacks for us. I love when hotels go the extra mile when we are celebrating something special!

The front desk team was very kind and gave me a rundown of the hotel at check-in which was much appreciated.

I did find it odd that none of the staff were wearing name tags and they didn’t seem to have any sort of uniform except for the housekeeping staff.

Only a few hours after check-out I received an email from the front office manager asking for direct feedback regarding our stay which I absolutely appreciated. I had some confusion regarding the breakfast location and I let him know, and he ended up comp-ing our dinner bill which was absolutely above and beyond, but very much appreciated.

Family Friendliness 2/10

This property isn’t great for families. It is located in the heart of Nashville’s downtown and I’m sure it is full of Bachelorette parties and considerable debauchery on most weekends. I would absolutely return for a couple’s night, but would not go back for a family stay. We stayed on a quiet Wednesday night in February, but I’m sure the hotel isn’t nearly as serene as it seemed to us during busier nights in Nashville or any given weekend from March to November.

Overall 7/10

I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. We had a lovely stay and the hospitality was wonderful. I would only recommend this hotel for adults and it is especially great if you are participating in the downtown nightlife that Nashville has to offer.
