I just returned from a short trip out to Utah. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City and The Grand Hyatt Deer Valley which I reviewed in a separate post.
The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City was super nice and felt brand new. It opened in 2022 and has 700 guest rooms. The hotel is walking distance to downtown Salt Lake City for restaurants, shopping, and seeing the Mormon Temple sites (but lots of construction on the temple currently which I was unaware of until we walked over there).

Booking and Value: 9/10
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City using a Category 1-4 Free Night Certificate (earned from spending $15k on my personal Hyatt card). 0 points $0. The hotel cost for the night would have been $312. I booked using the Hyatt app. It was a very simple booking process and very easy to apply my award certificate!
I booked a 2 Queen Room and we were upgraded to a 2 Queen Room + pull out sofa. The room felt huge for not being a suite. It had enough floor space for my kids to do handstands and cartwheels (their current favorite activity).

Location: 10/10
The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is located in downtown Salt Lake City. It is about 20 minutes from the airport and within the heart of downtown. The hotel is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the famous Mormon Temple. It is also directly connected to the Salt Lake City Convention Center.
Decor: 9/10
The hotel opened in October 2022 and feels brand new. The decor is neutral, bright, and modern. The entire hotel feels welcoming without being stuffy.
The lobby is large and feels incredibly open. There is a large fireplace with seating in the lobby that looks cozy and inviting.
The seating in the lounge space felt soft, comfortable and welcoming.

Food: 8/10
We only ate breakfast in the lounge and didn’t experience any of the restaurants but we really enjoyed the lounge breakfast which is included for Globalists.
Breakfast in the club lounge was great. Lots of options including carbs and proteins as well as an espresso machine for cappuccinos and lattes. The staff in the lounge was super attentive and constantly refilling food stations. The lounge also had a great assortment of snacks starting at 11am. The cookies were fantastic!

Room: 9/10
The room was incredibly spacious. I appreciated not having carpet in the room. The floors are luxury vinyl plank from what I could tell. I also appreciated the big coat rack on the wall near the door. We didn’t need it in July when we visited but I’m sure it would be very helpful in the colder months.
The beds were comfortable and the number of plugs was ample. As the cord carrier and charging master of the family, I always appreciate having lots of places to plug in and charge devices.

Hospitality: 10/10
I booked our room only a few days ahead of our stay and even with short notice, I received an email welcoming me as a Globalist and asking if I needed help with any arrangements. At check-in, I was met with smiling faces, a kind welcome, and Globalist recognition.
The Club Lounge was a great quiet respite within the hotel and much appreciated Globalist perk.

Family Friendliness: 8/10
The hotel definitely feels like a conference/business hotel, but with that being said, we saw many other kids at the hotel and didn’t feel like we were out of place at all while traveling as a family.
I really appreciated the coloring pages and crayons laying out in the lounge as a super kid friendly touch. I would love to see some more kids games or board games in the lounge to check out and use.
The pool was a big hit with my kids and we visited it twice during our one night stay.

Gym: 8/10
I love to hit the hotel gym, especially if there is a Peloton x Hyatt bonus going on like there was when I visited. The gym is spacious and has a lot of equipment to choose from including dumbbells, yoga mats, weight machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, and four Peloton bikes. The only thing I wish was there that wasn’t is a Peloton Row. I only saw a few other people in the gym at the times I visited which was very nice.
They have water and towels as well as extra headphones available for free. I appreciated the extra headphones because I am NEVER able to get my Apple Air Pods to sync with the Peloton bikes!
Final Thoughts
The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is a lovely hotel in downtown Salt Lake that feels brand new and is a great value as a Category 4 Hyatt. I would absolutely stay here again whether traveling with my family or for business.
