On a recent flight into LGA I managed to get a tour of the new Chase Sapphire Lounge upon arrival. The lounge certainly does not disappoint! It is located in Terminal B, ironically directly next to the AMEX Centurion lounge. You enter through a long hallway, take an elevator, and then walk down another hallway to the lounge.
We arrived around 9:30am and the lounge was bustling but not at all full. The plush neutral furnishings and bronze finishes give the lounge an elegant and elevated feel. It is hard to believe this lounge is in the airport where I used to be scared of contracting a communicable disease from the water fountain. Props to LaGuardia for their amazing makeover. One major downside to the lounge is that it does not have any windows. They make up for the lack of windows with lots of lighting, mirrors, a water vapor fireplace feature and a beautiful bar.
The lounge is two stories. You enter on the main level and next to the bar is an elegant staircase leading you to another seating area upstairs. There is a separate wet bar with water, coffee, tea, and a few other small snacks near the upstairs seating area. The main level is where you will find the vast majority of the food options. I was not hungry and didn’t end up eating but my mom loved the french toast with baked apples, and my daughter enjoyed the muffins. All of the foot options were served in individual servings from a counter where they were actively restocking everything. They also have a menu that you can access by scanning a QR code. Cheerios and milk as well as an omelet were choices on the a la carte menu. My picky eater enjoyed ordering the Cheerios, and then ordering them again when she wanted more. I did try the on tap cold brew coffee which was good and a can of Spindrift water tasted nice after our crack-of-dawn flight into New York.
Another fun feature of the lounge was the kids area and the arcade. There is a small enclosed play area with soft climbing toys (best for toddlers and preschoolers) and a hidden arcade with shuffleboard behind the velvet curtains. These features were definitely a big hit with my elementary aged kids. Their other favorite feature was the water vapor fireplace. It looks like fire but it is just water vapor coming out of lava rocks and orange lights. It entertained them for a solid 10 minutes.
I regret not having time to check out the complimentary spa services offered at the lounge, but it is definitely a reason to go back. Nestled behind the spa was a spacious bathroom, a mother’s nursing room, and a baby changing room.
There are several ways to access this lounge and any other Chase Sapphire Lounge (BOS, HKG, JFK, LGA and AUS). Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can access the Sapphire lounges an unlimited number of times. Priority Pass members can access one Sapphire Lounge annually.
Cards that grant you a complimentary Priority Pass membership include AMEX Platinum and Business Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital One Venture X and Venture X Business. This list is not exhaustive and there may be other cards that offer Priority Pass. If you have one of these cards, be sure to activate your Priority Pass membership before your next trip!
As Chase Sapphire Reserve just announced they are ending their restaurant benefit as part of priority pass, I hope to see more Chase Sapphire Lounges arrive at airports around the US and the Globe.
